DIKSHA: what the national learning platform gives a school

DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing) is India’s national school-education content platform under the Ministry of Education, with NCERT content: digital textbooks reachable by QR code, explanation videos, interactive content and courses, organised by board and by NEP 2020 stage, in English, Hindi and 22 Indian languages. It is a teaching resource, not an administrative portal: nothing is filed there.

What is DIKSHA?

DIKSHA is the national digital platform for school education content. The site organises material by NEP 2020 stage (Foundational (pre-primary to grade 2), Preparatory (3–5), Middle (6–8) and Secondary (9–12)) and by board, listing NCERT, CBSE, NIOS and 36 States and UTs. Content types are textbooks, videos, interactive content and courses, in English, Hindi and 22 Indian languages.

How do teachers and students use it?

The textbook route is the everyday one: printed NCERT and state textbooks carry QR codes that open the matching digital content on DIKSHA. Beyond that, the learning platform (learning.diksha.gov.in) hosts courses (the site lists examples such as Science-IX and Mathematics-X) and the mobile apps carry the same content offline-capable.

The public site shows a Login / Register link but does not describe the teacher registration process, and it does not publish a helpline number: support is through a “Raise a Query” option. A school onboarding its teachers should follow its state or board’s instructions rather than a third-party walkthrough.

How does a school make DIKSHA useful without making it a chore?

  1. Point teachers at the QR codes in the textbooks they already use. That is the lowest-effort entry.
  2. Pick courses from the learning platform by stage and subject rather than asking every teacher to browse.
  3. Follow the state or board circular for teacher registration; the public site does not document the steps.
  4. Use the app for classrooms without reliable internet, content is downloadable.

What goes wrong, and the fix

A teacher cannot find how to register.

The public site does not document registration. Use the board/state instructions or the site’s “Raise a Query”.

The school wants to “file” something on DIKSHA.

Nothing is filed on DIKSHA. Administrative filings go to UDISE+, affiliation to the board’s portal.

What Edutris does here, and what it does not

Does

  • Manages the administrative side of the same school (attendance, marks, report cards, fees, parent communication) so DIKSHA can stay a teaching tool.

Does not

  • Integrate with DIKSHA, host DIKSHA content, or act as an LMS. Edutris is administration software, not a learning platform.

Frequently asked questions

Is DIKSHA an LMS for the school?

It is a national content platform: textbooks, videos and courses by board and stage. It is not a school’s LMS, and Edutris is not one either; Edutris handles administration and stays out of the classroom content.

Which boards are covered?

The site lists NCERT, CBSE, NIOS and 36 States and UTs, with content in English, Hindi and 22 Indian languages.

Is there a DIKSHA helpline?

The public site does not print a phone number; it offers a “Raise a Query” route. Teacher registration steps are also not on the public site.
