CBSE SARAS and OASIS: the two portals behind affiliation
CBSE runs two linked portals. SARAS (currently SARAS 7.0, at saras.cbse.gov.in/SARAS) is the affiliation application system: where a school applies for affiliation and later changes to it. OASIS (OASIS 7.0, at saras.cbse.gov.in/oasis) is the online school information system where the affiliated school’s data and documents are maintained, and affiliation decisions are taken on documentation being complete and consistent there.
Official portal: saras.cbse.gov.in/SARAS · Edutris is an independent software company and is not affiliated with Central Board of Secondary Education. Verify fees and dates on the official portal before acting.

What is SARAS, and what is OASIS?
The CBSE homepage links both by name and version: “SARAS 7.0” at saras.cbse.gov.in/SARAS and “OASIS 7.0” at saras.cbse.gov.in/oasis. SARAS is the affiliation application system; OASIS is the online school information system in which an affiliated school maintains its data and documents. Our CBSE affiliation checklist, built from the same official material, describes the application as granted only when documentation is complete and consistent on OASIS.
Both are login-driven. The public pages do not describe the application types, fees, windows or document list: the affiliation bye-laws and the notices on cbse.gov.in do, and they change. Read those, not a summary.
What documents does a CBSE application actually need?
Five families of documents, assembled before you apply: society/trust registration and state recognition (including the state NOC); land and building papers (ownership or registered lease, land-use certificate, building safety and completion certificates, approved plans); mandatory safety certificates (fire, water and sanitation, safe-transport and CCTV, child-safety compliance, barrier-free access); academic and financial records (infrastructure details, staff list with qualifications, salary evidence, audited accounts); and the board’s prescribed affidavits and undertakings. The free checklist lists each item.
How should a school prepare before touching SARAS?
- Read the current affiliation bye-laws and the latest notices on cbse.gov.in for the application type you need, fresh affiliation, upgradation, extension or a change.
- Assemble every document in the five families above and check that names, dates and areas agree across them: mismatches are what get applications returned.
- Keep OASIS current: the school information there must match what the application says.
- Apply on SARAS within the window the board announces; the public pages do not print the windows or fees.
What goes wrong, and the fix
The application was returned for a missing certificate.
Work through the five document families in the checklist before resubmitting; the safety certificates (fire, water, building) are the most commonly missing.
A figure in the application does not match OASIS.
Update OASIS first so the school record and the application agree; consistency between the two is what the board checks.
Someone quotes an affiliation fee from a blog.
Fees are set by the bye-laws and notices on cbse.gov.in and change; take the figure only from there.
What Edutris does here, and what it does not
Does
- Produces the teacher roster and the class, section and enrolment figures the application asks for, from the records it already keeps: the same ones behind its UDISE+ head-start export.
Does not
- Submit anything to SARAS or OASIS, or ship CBSE affiliation forms. Edutris has no CBSE integration.
- Advise on eligibility or fees. That is the bye-laws’ job.
Frequently asked questions
Do I apply on SARAS or on OASIS?
Applications go through SARAS, the affiliation application system. OASIS is where the affiliated school’s information and documents are maintained, and the board checks the application against it, so keep both current.
Where are the fees and application windows published?
Not on the public SARAS or OASIS pages. They are in the affiliation bye-laws and the notices on cbse.gov.in, and they change: take figures from there only.
Why do applications get returned?
Most often because a document is missing or two documents disagree, a land area that differs between the lease and the certificate, a safety certificate that has lapsed. Assemble and cross-check the pack before applying.
Can Edutris file our CBSE affiliation?
No. Edutris produces the staff roster and enrolment figures; the statutory documents and the application itself are the school’s, on SARAS.
