Character Certificate Generator
A character certificate is short, and every word in it is the school’s own judgement. Fill the student’s details, the period you are speaking for and the conduct wording here, then print. The pronouns resolve from one field, and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

[SCHOOL NAME] [Address] · [Phone] · [Email] Certificate No.: ________ Date: ____ / ____ / ______ CHARACTER CERTIFICATE This is to certify that [STUDENT'S FULL NAME], son/daughter of [PARENT/GUARDIAN NAME], was a student of this school from [MONTH, YYYY] to [MONTH, YYYY], studying from Class [__] to Class [__]. During this period, his/her conduct and character were found to be [GOOD / SATISFACTORY]. We wish him/her success in future endeavours. Place: ____________ ____________________ Principal (School seal)
Anything you leave empty prints as the blank it already is, so a certificate can be finished by hand at the desk. Nothing you type is sent anywhere. It stays in this browser.
This is a format to adapt, not a prescribed form. No authority publishes a single national wording for this document. Your board, your state and your own school rules decide what it must say and how long you keep the counterfoil, so check yours before you adopt this as your standard.
How this generator works
The conduct line is a choice, so it is a choice here
The format offers Good or Satisfactory and the form makes you pick one instead of typing free praise. That is not a limitation. A certificate that calls every student excellent tells a receiving institution nothing, and the school signing it has still put its name to the sentence.
Say what period you are speaking for
The wording covers the student from a stated month, because the school can only vouch for the time the student was actually on its rolls. Filling that month is what separates a character certificate from an open-ended personal reference, and it protects the school if it is asked years later what the certificate covered.
Signed, sealed, and recorded
The signature rule and the seal line stay blank by design. Give the certificate a number and enter it in the same register your bonafide and transfer certificates go into, so the office can answer a verification call without searching a filing cabinet.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can we issue one for a student who left years ago?
Yes, and the month field is how you do it honestly. A school can only speak for the time the student was on its rolls, so the certificate names that period rather than implying the school has an opinion about the years since. Fill the month from your admission register, not from memory, and if the register no longer supports a conduct judgement, issue the bonafide certificate that states enrolment as a fact instead.
Does the certificate need a number?
It needs one if you ever expect to answer a verification call. A number written on the certificate and entered against the student in the same register your bonafide and transfer certificates go into is what turns a phone call into a thirty-second lookup. Without it, confirming that a certificate is genuinely yours means searching a filing cabinet for a name, which is why offices end up reissuing rather than verifying.
Can we change the wording this produces?
Yes, copy the text into Word or Google Docs and edit it, then put it on your letterhead with your logo. The one thing worth pausing over is the conduct line: strengthening “Satisfactory” to something warmer is not a formatting change, it is a different statement, and the signature at the bottom belongs to whoever has to stand behind it.
