CBSE grade band

CBSE’s absolute grading assigns a grade by percentage range: A1 (91–100), A2 (81–90), B1 (71–80), B2 (61–70), C1 (51–60), C2 (41–50), D (33–40), E1/E2 (below 33). We map your percentage to the correct band.

Pass mark

The standard CBSE pass mark is 33%. A percentage below 33% falls in the E (Essential Repeat) band and is flagged as not passed.

The standard passing mark in CBSE is 33% in each subject. A score below 33% falls in the E band, which means the student needs to repeat or reappear in that subject.

Divide the marks you obtained by the total (maximum) marks and multiply by 100. For example, 425 out of 500 is (425 ÷ 500) × 100 = 85%, which is a CBSE A2 grade.
